After nearly 16-thousand votes for Player of the Week, the top boy and top girl were each named BLITZ Players of the Week. BLITZ then chose one other boy and girl as a POW winner. It was White County’s Bentley Cronic (7,989 votes) who won the overall vote by a landslide.
The top vote-getter for the boys was Dawson’s Luke Chism (2,438). Both won Player of the Week, and BLITZ named Banks County’s Carl Cleveland and Heather Vaughan as well.
BENTLEY CRONIC
Junior guard Bentley Cronic has been playing well all season, and has been money for the Lady Warriors. In recent games, she has averaged 18 points, 4 assists, and 5 steals per game in the last two.
LUKE CHISM
The Dawson County senior is highly-recruited, and playing like it. He earns his second POW award this year after averaging 25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals per game over the last three. That’s insane!
CARL CLEVELAND
It’s been a masterful season for the Banks County junior hybrid Carl Cleveland. He can hit the deep shot, or own the paint down low, and score from anywhere else he has the ball.
His last game shows his prowess, as he notched a triple-double of 35 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists, and added 3 blocks and a steal for good measure. On the season, Cleveland averages 29.5 points, 10.8 boards, and 4.9 assists per contest, all while shooting 50% overall from the field. He has eight double-doubles and an additional triple-double, and has scored at least 18 points in every game he’s played. Six times he’s scored 30-plus, including a career-high 45 earlier in the season.
HEATHER VAUGHAN
The junior guard for Banks County, Heather Vaughan, has been perhaps the greatest threat from long range among all players in North Georgia. Vaughan was lights out in the past game, scoring 32 points overall, 30 of which came from the parking lot, as she connected on 10 3-pointers. This has become the norm for her, and makes the Lady Leopards perhaps even harder to stop with the combination of a strong inside game as well.
