Water service is now fully restored in Demorest after crews located and repaired a water main break on East Mize Road.
The line broke in the pre-dawn hours Christmas Eve. It knocked out service to customers on the east side of Habersham County, from East Mize Road to the Stephens County line.
Public Works Director Bryan Popham says changes in temperature may have contributed to the line break, according to Demorest Mayor Rick Austin.
“I am both appreciative and proud of our men who work tirelessly, even on holidays, to serve our community,” Austin says.
