Patsy Sosebee Griffin, age 64, of Young Harris, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Emory University Hospital after a courageous battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jack Griffin, of Young Harris, Georgia and by one son, Matthew Griffin of Atlanta, Georgia. She is survived by three sisters: Joy Autry of Gainesville, Georgia, Judith Prince of Greer, South Carolina, and Linda Adams (Jerry) of Demorest, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Hugh Sosebee of Clarkesville, Georgia.
Ms. Griffin was born and raised in Clarkesville, Georgia, and she graduated from Habersham Central High School. She attended North Georgia College and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After working in business for several years, she joined the accounting department at Lanier Technical College. Ms. Griffin was named Director of Financial Aid at Lanier Technical College in 1990, a position she held for 24 years. In that role, she helped thousands of students receive funds to pursue a college education. She retired from Lanier Tech in 2014. Patsy was an avid gardener, cook, and loved bird-watching.
A private memorial service for family will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel in Demorest, Georgia
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship established in Ms. Griffin’s honor at Lanier Technical College. Donations should be made payable to the Lanier Technical College Foundation, 2535 Lanier Tech Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30507. Patsy Griffin Scholarship should be placed on the memo line.
Patsy was loved dearly by her family and friends, and we will always carry her memory in our hearts.
