The lights – and heat – are back on in homes and businesses across northeast Georgia. Habersham EMC and Georgia Power cleared up the last remaining outages Tuesday.

Winter Storm Diego swept into the region Saturday and knocked out electricity to more than 11,000 customers. The heaviest concentrations of outages were in Habersham and Rabun counties.

Restoration efforts over the weekend were hampered by poor weather and road conditions. Most of the outages were tree related, according to HEMC’s Director of Strategy Nicole Dover.
