It was a Republican sweep in Georgia’s statewide runoffs.

Republican Brad Raffensperger defeated Democrat John Barrow in the race for Secretary of State. District 3 Public Service Commissioner Chuck Eaton won reelection, defeating his Democratic challenger Lindy Miller.

The election caps off a contentious year of voting in Georgia, a year that saw Republicans retain control under the Gold Dome despite a concerted effort by Democrats to turn Georgia blue.

Democrats did manage to pick up seats in the state legislature and Congress, but failed to capture any of the top state administrative positions from governor on down.

As Georgia voted, so did Habersham. Raffensperger and Eaton both won the county with over 80% of the vote.
