Collins to lead Republicans on House Judiciary Committee

(WASHINGTON) – —Today, House Republicans confirmed the nomination of Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) to lead Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee as its ranking member next Congress.

“The Judiciary Committee’s jurisdiction runs deep and wide, and I’ve been committed to advancing the conservative agenda as a member of the committee since day one. It’s been an honor to legislate with my House colleagues and earn their trust. As ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, I look forward to the hard battles and noble work before us,” said Collins.

Collins represents Northeast Georgia in the 9th Congressional District. The district includes the Northeast Banks, Clarke (partial), Dawson, Elbert, Fannin, Forsyth (partial), Franklin, Gilmer, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, Pickens (partial), Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, White counties

He currently serves as the Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference and as Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet.

Democrats will assume leadership of the House Judiciary Committee when the 116th Congress convenes on January 3, 2019.
