When Habersham County’s Christmas Parade winds through Cornelia on December 15 it will be led by well-known local businessman, John Borrow. Borrow was chosen to serve as this year’s Grand Marshal. If you haven’t met him personally, chances are you know his family and his work.
John is the son of Sandy and the late David Borrow. The Borrows have lived in Habersham county since 1983 when they opened their first McDonald’s in Cornelia. They now own and operate seven McDonald’s restaurants across northeast Georgia, and employ over 400 people. John has worked in the family business since he was 10 years old.
John graduated Habersham Central High School in 1990, graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1995, and received his MBA from Vanderbilt in 1997. He and his wife Holly are also graduates of Leadership Georgia in 2016.
John and his family have been very involved in their community for as long as they’ve lived here. They support local churches, charities, athletics, academics, among other things. The Borrows were the original sponsors of Now Habersham’s compassionate community campaign, Pass It On.
John is the immediate past President of the Habersham County Rotary Club, serves on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, serves at his local church, and many other areas of service.
John lives in Cornelia with his wife Holly and their 3 young boys, just down the street from his childhood home, where his mother, Sandy, still lives.
