NGTC Names Two New Vice Presidents to Executive Team

North Georgia Technical College has two new vice presidents on its Executive Team. NGTC President Dr. Mark Ivester named Keith Powell to Vice President of Economic Development and Amy Hulsey as Vice President of Community and College Relations.

Powell joined NGTC in February of 2018 as Special Assistant to the President, conducting research and analysis to assist the college in decision-making and long range strategic planning. Powell earned a bachelor’s degree in textile technology from Clemson University and a master’s degree in human services counseling from Liberty University. Most recently, he retired from Goodwill of North Georgia, where he served as director of workforce development. In his role he also functioned as a member of the agency’s senior leadership team. Prior to that time, he worked for 23 years in various workforce development and leadership roles. Powell and his wife Kay reside in Toccoa.

Hulsey joined the college staff in 2015 and previously served as the college’s director of public relations and information. Hulsey has worked in public relations and graphic design for more than 20 years, and she earned a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Georgia and bachelor’s degree in music and economics from Agnes Scott College. She previously was a freelance graphic designer and public relations consultant and served as the public relations manager of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She also served as the assistant director of public relations and assistant director of alumni affairs at Brenau University in Gainesville. Hulsey is the incoming chair of the Habersham Chamber of Commerce, serves on the board of directors for the United Way and the Habersham Medical Center Foundation and is vice president of the Habersham County Academic Booster Club. She is a graduate of Leadership Habersham and Leadership Hall. Hulsey and her husband Keith reside in Clarkesville.

“Keith has proven to be a valuable resource to the college with a wealth of experience in workforce development and in the manufacturing sector. He is very familiar with our service area as well as the industries and industry leaders within that area,” says Dr. Ivester. “Amy has a great understanding of how to use modern marketing technology to get our brand to our prospective students. She has a strong passion and desire for our local communities to prosper. I believe both Keith and Amy have a strong base of experience and knowledge will greatly benefit the college moving forward.”

North Georgia Technical College is the first technical college in the state of Georgia, and is part of the Technical College System of Georgia. Its main campus is in Clarkesville, with additional campuses in Toccoa and Blairsville.
