A second suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a Toccoa teen’s murder earlier this year. 29-year-old Demetrius Sanchez Smith is charged in the shooting death of Joel Keshon Green.
Green was shot in the head in broad daylight on August 8 in the area of 154 South Alexander Street.
Prosecutors presented the murder investigation to a Stephens County Grand Jury on Oct. 26. Smith was arrested shortly after. He’s charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Stephens County Detention Center.
Two other Toccoa men – 21-year-old Kentavius Broudmain Walker and 23-year-old Ty’Jai Trammel – were arrested for murder the day after the shooting. They now face additional charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Walker is also charged with aggravated assault in connection to a separate shooting in Toccoa on July 26.
