Your State Parks Day, held on Saturday, September 29, invites volunteers to Georgia’s state parks and historic sites to help with a variety of projects in celebration of National Public Lands Day. Non-profit organization Friends of Georgia State Parks sponsored the statewide event and paid for parking and admission fees for all who volunteered their time.

The Community Service group at Rabun Gap went to the overlook at Tallulah Gorge to allow the students to see the beautiful view and then went over to the Shortline Trail, where they worked for more than two hours picking up brush and fallen limbs. Some students also had the chance to clean up windows and signs along the trail. In total, 20 Middle School and 16 Upper School students were in attendance.

“Everyone did a great job!” says Anne Shook, Upper School French teacher and Community Service Coordinator for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School.
