Stephens County 41, Habersham Central 28
It was a tale of two halves for the Raiders, as they held a 28-7 lead until late in the first half. The Indians scored 34 straight to shock Habersham and stretch the win streak in the rivalry series to 14 games, dating back to 1996 since the last Habersham victory. FULL STORY
North Hall 27, White County 20
The Trojans remained unbeaten with a stellar win at White County, as the game came down to the wire. Jay Lepkoske scored first for the Warriors midway through the second, and then recorded a safety and a field goal to go up 12-0 at the break. Three North Hall third quarter TDs though gave the Trojans a 20-12 lead into the final quarter. Lepkoske got his second TD, followed by a two-point conversion from J Ben Haynes to Michael Mintz to notch the game at 20. With 1:01 remaining, North Hall completed the comeback win with a short yardage TD.
#9 Jefferson 42, Gainesville 10
Gainesville briefly led 3-0 and 10-7, but the Dragons took over from there. A late first quarter TD put them in front for good, when Colby Clark scored from 30 yards out to go up 14-10. After a lightning delay, Jefferson led 21-10 at the half and stretched that to 35-10 when Garmon Randolph recorded a pick six early in the third. Colton Jones capped the scoring for Jefferson, who won 42-10 to move to 3-1.
#4 Commerce 56, Providence 0
Despite a sloppy first quarter in which the Tigers turned it over three times, Commerce got the scoring started with a Nick Patrick TD and rolled from there. Nate Ray made it 21-0 with two straight TDs for him. Caleb Mason’s TD run in the third made it 28-0 and the rest is history as Commerce rolled to a 56-0 win to move to 4-0.
#10 Dawson County 38, Denmark 21
The Tigers showed up big against brand new Denmark, who was a rare 3-0 as a first-year program. Dawson is now 4-0 without blemish, and Sevaughn Clark and Ahmad Kamara continued to impress with nearly 250 rushing yards between the two.
Rabun County 42, Putnam County 20
The Cats did it again. It only took one half, as Rabun led 42-7 at halftime and rested the starters the rest of the game. A 74-yd Austin Jones TD on a shovel pass from Gunner Stockton jump-started the Wildcats on their first play from scrimmage. Hunter Dills had a pick six (28 yards) to push it to 14-0. Jones’ second receiving score came on a screen pass from Stockton in the second before Putnam finally got on the board to make it 21-7. Stockton then notched a rushing 28-yd TD go go back up 28-7, and another Stockton-to-Jones TD (40 yards) opened it up to 35-7. Stockton capped the scoring with a 6-yd TD to put Rabun up 42-7 at the half, and with the starters out, they held on for the 42-20 win to move to 3-1 on the season.
Union County 38, Monticello 22
It was a bad start for Union with back-to-back turnovers, but it was all good from there. Pierson Allison and Chad Buzzard both had two TDs and Jonah Daniel scored the other touchdown in the 38-22 win that has the Panthers sitting pretty at 4-0.
Banks County 32, Social Circle 10
The Leopards pounded Social Circle in a game that was supposed to feature the stellar defense of SC. It was a 3-0 ball game in the second in favor of Social Circle before Banks just went wild. Jacob Lehotsky had two TDs and Terrence Walker had three for the Leopards, who put up over 400 rushing yards. The defense held strong throughout in a total team win.
#9 George Walton 41, Towns County 7
Towns County was outmatched by a powerful George Walton team. It was 35-0 quickly and turnovers doomed the Indians throughout, as it is now 2-2.
#2 Buford 54, Newton 27
Buford flexed its muscles to move to 3-1 on the season.
Johnson 58, Cross Keys 0
Johnson is taking the football world by storm, enjoying its best success since early 2000s. The Knights crushed Cross Keys and moved to 4-1 on the year.
Chestatee 45, Fannin County 42
The War Eagles are in the win column, making the last local team to get the win, this one over a struggling Fannin County team. Chestatee’s Christian Charles is having a fanstastic season at the QB position, and is one of the state’s leading rushers.
