(Cleveland)- White County has a new Chief Magistrate Judge. Corey Hyde, who has served as a magistrate judge in the county for the past 15 years, was selected by the Enotah Superior Court Judges to fill the position.
The job was left vacant when then-Chief Magistrate Joy Parks was appointed to the Superior Court bench. In fact, it was Judge Parks who had the honor of administering the oath of office to Hyde Thursday at the White County Courthouse in Cleveland.
Judge Parks in her remarks said, “In every decision he makes, whether it’s issuing a warrant or doing a civil hearing or doing an ordinance violation, he uses great discernment, he’s very deliberate in his decisions.”
Hyde commented about this special day, “All the years that I have been doing it as a magistrate and this point and time you know coming to be the chief magistrate is a lot more responsibility as far as personal stuff and things like that have to be done, but I’m excited to get started.”
A large crowd of family, friends and other local judges were on hand for the ceremony and congratulate Hyde.
With both judge Parks and Hyde moving up, Hyde said he will be looking at finding some people help share the workload in the department.
