It started September 18th when the first absentee ballots went out and it didn’t slow down. There was a surge of early voting in Georgia this year and Habersham County saw it, too. When the polls finally closed Friday, 10,764 ballots had been cast in the county representing just over 43.5% of Habersham’s 24,707 active registered voters.
Habersham County Election Supervisor Laurel Ellison released the final early voting figures. Here’s the breakdown:
- Absentee by Mail Issued – 940
- Absentee by Mail Received – 726
- Early Voting in Elections Office – 5,583
- Saturday & Advance Voting Week at Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center – 2,511
- Saturday & Advance Voting Week at 1st Baptist Church of Cornelia – 1,944
For those who didn’t vote early, you can still have your say at the ballot box next Tuesday on election day. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 6. You must vote at your assigned precinct (see list below). If you’re not sure where you’re assigned, you may call the Habersham County Elections Office at 706-839-0170 or visit Georgia’s My Voter Page on the Web.
