Public’s help sought finding fugitive

Suspect may be armed. Officials urge don’t confront him. Report any sightings to law enforcement.

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals are seeking information that leads to the arrest of Christopher Allen Wikstrom.

Wikstrom is a suspect in a home invasion and aggravated assault that took place in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday.

Officers were called to a home in the Hollywood Community around 4 a.m. on Aug. 21 in reference to a home invasion. “The victims knew the suspect and identified him as Christopher Wikstrom,” says Habersham Sheriff’s Lt. Matthew Wurtz.

This is an ongoing investigation and officials are asking for the public’s help to locate Wikstrom. He was last seen leaving Stephens County in a Green Nissan Xterra with no front bumper or grill. Officials say it’s possible he was heading to the Franklin, North Carolina area. Wikstrom is known to frequent Stephens and Rabun Counties.

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of obtaining warrants on Wikstrom. Multiple other jurisdictions have warrants out for his arrest, including North Carolina.

“We ask that the public not try to confront this subject and to contact us or their local law enforcement agency due to him possibly being armed and dangerous,” cautions Wurtz.
