One injured in wreck on Duncan Bridge Road

The Georgia State Patrol has released new details of a wreck that injured a woman Tuesday night on Duncan Bridge Road. The accident happened at 11:20 p.m. about a half-mile north of Level Grove Road. Habersham County Emergency Services (HCES), the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol (GSP) responded to the scene.

Driver injured; four others, including three kids, escape injury

State Trooper First Class Christoph Ayers says the crash involved three vehicles. One of the vehicles, a white pickup truck, fled the scene before the investigating trooper arrived. Ayers says the pickup fled “without stopping and providing any kind of identifying information.”

TFC Ayers identifies the two other drivers as as Isabella Valadez of Alto and Cassie York of Newborn, Georgia. He did not release details of how the accident happened but says Valadez was driving a black Mercury Mountaineer. Her vehicle overturned. Valadez was transported to Habersham Medical Center with minor injuries, according to HCES Director Chad Black.

York was driving a tan Chrysler Town and Country passenger van. There were three children in the van with her. None of them were injured.

The accident shut down one lane of Duncan Bridge Road for nearly an hour as GSP investigated and crews worked to clear the scene.

TFC Ayers says the investigation continues. Charges are pending.

This article has been updated to reflect that three vehicles were involved in the accident, not just one as previously reported.
