Cleveland Police working with Tennessee officials on major drug case

A Tennessee woman is in jail in Cleveland for allegedly trafficking drugs.

Police arrested 32-year-old Linsey Hyatt of Bluff City, Tennessee following a traffic stop on White Street on July 30. An officer stopped her for for no tag and a broken windshield. The officer smelled drugs while approaching the vehicle, according to Cleveland Police Chief John Foster.

Inside the 2007 BMW Hyatt was driving, police say they found 1.5 ounces of meth and $11,000. Police arrested Hyatt and charged her with a dozen offenses including drug trafficking and possession of drugs with intent to distribute.

Foster says his officers are still investigating why Hyatt was in Cleveland. He tells WRWH News, “We’re sure it has a local connection, we’re just not sure what that local connection is yet.”

At the same time Hyatt was being arrested in Cleveland, Foster says the sheriff’s department in her hometown was serving a search warrant on her house.

Foster says Hyatt’s considered a flight risk. She remains in jail without bond.
