Big Red Apple Festival returns to Cornelia Sept. 22

The Home of the Big Red Apple will play host to thousands of expected visitors during the annual fall festival

The 31st Annual Big Red Apple Festival will be held in downtown Cornelia on Saturday, September 22nd from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The festival will include local artisan craft vendors, anything apple competition, antique car show, cornhole tournament, Harlem Globetrotter Michael Douglas, hayrides to Chenocetah Tower, kid zone, a Cornelia Library book sale, and live local entertainment.

And what would the Big Reg Apple Festival be without, you guessed it, apples?!

Festival-goers can stop by the train museum in the Historic Cornelia Depot to pick up a bag of apples or enjoy a candied apple from Jeamor Farms. Festival guides, t-shirts, and water will also be available at the information booth.

Cornelia’s Community Development Director Jessie Owensby says, “This is one of our favorite events to host every year because it is family-friendly, and each year we add something new. This year’s festival will be a lot of fun with great food, entertainment, and vendors.”

The festival will be held in downtown Cornelia. Admission is free. Vendor pricing varies throughout. Downtown shops and restaurants will be open, offering different specials throughout the day. For Georgia Football fans, you can enjoy the festival and Bulldogs at one of two different venues.

Owensby says the city’s five museums will be open, along with Chenocetah Tower. The historic tower is the only granite fire tower in the nation.
