The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to locate those responsible for a recent equipment heist in Demorest.
It happened around 3:10 a.m. on Thursday, July 12 at 4610 Highway 115 in Demorest. Officials say a 2006 white crew cab Ford Super Duty flatbed truck, 18×6 utility trailer, and Kubota model L-39 loader/backhoe were stolen from that address.
Video from the area shows the stolen truck hauling the trailer and backhoe. The truck turns off of Hwy. 115 onto Habersham Mills Road. A second vehicle is seen following it. The make and model of that vehicle are not known.
From Habersham Mills Road the suspects turned onto Historic US 441. They passed in front of Habersham County Medical Center during their getaway.
Investigators obtained video from the hospital that shows the vehicles passing by.
The suspects drove to Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway and eventually turned onto GA 365 South, according to the sheriff’s office.
