Roy Head Bridge will close to traffic June 12, 2018
CLEVELAND – The rehabilitation efforts for the 66-year old bridge over Little Tesnatee Creek will close the bridge June 12, 2018 for 21 days. Crews with Comanche of Georiga, LLC (Marietta, Georgia) will clean, paint, replace joints, and place a protective overlay to the driving surface of the bridge.
This work will extend the useful service-life of the bridge located on State Route 11 (SR 11) / US 129 for another 25 years. For this work to be completed in less than a month, complete closure of the bridge over Little Tesnatee will save time and enhance safety for construction partners.
Detour route
Traffic will be detoured at the junction of SR 11/ US 129 and Tesnatee Valley Gap Road proceeding for approximately 3.0 miles to Sate Route 115 (West Kytle street). Then traffic will be directed to turn left on SR 115 and proceed 700 feet and turn left onto the West Cleveland Bypass for approximately 1.6 miles until the junction with SR 11/ US 129 where the detour ends.
This project was awarded in December of 2017 and has a schedule completion date of July 31, 2018 however the bridge will be opened back to traffic July, 1 2018. This project represents a total maintenance investment of $1 million.
