(Cleveland)- White County has it’s fifth reported positive case of rabies. Sean Sullivan, White County Environmental Health Manager, said Monday that  on  Tuesday May 29th his office received a call stating that a raccoon had been killed while attacking a litter of kittens.

The raccoon was picked up for delivery to the state lab on Wednesday, and the lab notified his office Friday afternoon that the specimen was positive for the rabies virus.

Sullivan said the litter of kittens were in the homeowner’s garage on Truelove Road when the homeowner heard a disturbance and investigated. The homeowner found the kittens and their mother being attacked by a raccoon.
