Governor to address TFS Class of 2018

Members of the Tallulah Falls School Class of 2018 will hear remarks from the governor of the State of Georgia at commencement ceremonies set for May 18.

Governor Nathan Deal will deliver the keynote address to the graduates, faculty, staff, family and special guests at a 2 p.m.ceremony.

“We are delighted to welcome Gov. Deal to campus,” says President and Head of School Larry A. Peevy. “His legacy of strong leadership will make a positive impression on our graduates. His solid record of service to community, state and nation is what we hope to inspire in our students.”

According to his bio, Deal, a native of Sandersville, served in the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon in Augusta after graduating with college and law degrees with honors from Mercer University. He then began a private law practice in Gainesville, the hometown of his wife, Sandra Deal. Deal began a career in public service, working as a prosecutor, judge, state senator and U.S. Congressman for Georgia’s 9th District. He was elected Georgia’s 82nd governor in 2010 and re-elected in 2014.

The Deals have four adult children and six grandchildren.
