Investigations lead to meth arrests in Habersham

The regional drug task force arrested and charged three people in connection with two separate drug investigations in Habersham County.

Demorest bust

Authorities arrested 22-year-old Griff Emory Allison at his home at 277 Stone Brook Drive in Demorest on March 28. Agents also arrested 23-year-old Joshua Lee Saucier, Jr., of Talmo, Georgia.

Agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) went to Allison’s home to serve search and arrests warrants on him, according to Special Agent in Charge Mitchell Posey.

“When law enforcement officials arrived, there was a vehicle that Allison had been the passenger (in) located in front of the residence where Allison resides,” says Posey. “A quantity of methamphetamine was located in the vehicle.”

Officials identified Saucier as the driver.

Authorities charged Allison with two counts of sale of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and possession of methamphetamine. They charged Saucier with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and possession of methamphetamine.

Officials took both men to the Habersham County Jail.

Probation ends with meth charges

That same day, ARDEO and Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an Alto man on meth charges.

Agents picked up 31-year-old Donald Carl Hibbs at 500 Blue Ridge Street in Alto when they went there to serve search and arrest warrants on him.

People made multiple meth buys at the residence during the month-long investigation, according to Posey.

“Hibbs was at work in Hall County when authorities executed the search warrant at his Alto residence. (The) Gainesville Police Department located Hibbs and located a quantity of methamphetamine on Hibbs when he was arrested,” Posey says. He says Hibbs now faces additional charges in Hall County.

At the time of his arrest, Hibbs was out of jail on probation. Authorities charged him with the sale of methamphetamine and violation of probation.

Officials transported him to the Habersham County Jail.

Posey says both drug investigations remain active.
