A Habersham County couple is homeless after fire swept through their Sutton Mill residence around 2pm Thursday. Family members say Randy and Dorothy Mull were inside the home when the fire broke out. He reportedly suffered burns to his hands tyring to put out the fire. The Suttons escaped before their house became fully involved.
Firefighters fought back the blaze before it could spread. Downed power lines in the yard hampered their efforts to reach the left side of the house. Firefighters also had to contend with gusty winds and extremely cold temperatures.
Traffic along Sutton Mill Road just north of Clarkesville was still stalled as of 4pm due to emergency vehicles blocking the road.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
