Heavy rain over the weekend forced the temporary shut down of a well known local gathering spot.
The City of Clarkesville issued an advisory Sunday stating Pitts Park was closed until further notice for “safety reasons due to high and swift flood waters.”
The park runs adjacent to the Soque River. As of early Monday the river still was running high near its banks.
