North Georgia Technical College students in the Culinary Arts Program on the Currahee Campus are raising their utensils a little higher these days, after learning their program received an exemplary commendation by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFEF).
To qualify as an ACFEF exemplary program, a program must be confirmed in full compliance with ACFEF standards on two consecutive team reports. The team evaluating the program participated in an onsite visit and determined, through a checklist and comparison of the program to the nationally recognized ACFEF standards, that the program had substantially met the entire and required eight standards areas: eligibility, program mission and goals, organization and administration, faculty and staff, curriculum, facilities, student services, and assessment.
“Employers everywhere recognize ACFEF as the culinary industry leader for educational resources, training, and accreditation, because it enhances professional growth,” says NGTC culinary arts instructor Chef Alex Bladowski.
Chef Chris Bladowski comments, “This accreditation is important to North Georgia Technical College because it gives culinary students the assurance that their training is held accountable for meeting nationally endorsed standards.”
NGTC’s Culinary Arts Program offers training at both the diploma and associate degree levels on the Currahee and Blairsville campuses. Baking and prep cook certificates are also offered.
