The Habersham County Chamber of Commerce is organizing its eighth “Habersham County Day at the Capitol.” Chamber President Dr. Judy Taylor says the purpose of the trip is for economic development awareness. “Whether making legislators aware of Habersham County for tourism growth or for helping attract business and industry, we are hoping this trip will make all of Georgia aware of what Habersham has to offer.” She adds, “It will not be a lobbying trip but a county promotional trip.”
The trip is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21. A chartered bus will leave the Cornelia Depot at 7:30 a.m. and is expected to arrive at the capitol in Atlanta at 9 a.m. The bus is scheduled to return to Habersham by 4 p.m.
The group will meet with lawmakers and have lunch at the Capitol. The cost is $35 for the bus ride and lunch; $20 for those who drive their own vehicles. To participate you must register with the Chamber.
The Chamber’s 2016-2017 Leadership Habersham class will be attending. However, anyone wishing to help represent Habersham County is welcome and encouraged to go. “We certainly hope that the political and business leaders go,” Taylor says.
To reserve your space on the bus or for lunch, contact the Chamber at 706-778-4654 or [email protected] no later than February 15. Seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
