9 arrested in local drug sweep

Nine people are charged in connection with a drug sweep in White County. The arrests were made Tuesday as law enforcement searched 15 different residences based on tips from the public.

The searches were conducted by the White County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Community Supervision and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).

“White County authorities responded to the public’s outcry by going to each of the residences and asking nicely to search for illegal narcotics and stolen items,” says ARDEO Special Agent in Charge Mitchell Posey in an email press release. “The goal of this operation was to remove all illegal narcotics from our streets and to deter drug dealers from selling illegal narcotics in White County.”

Joshua David Cunningham, Glen Ronald Goerke, Victoria Aubrey Thompson, William Nicholas Nicely, and Thomas Keith Trammell were arrested at 859 West Kytle Street in Cleveland. ARDEO says White County authorities found 1 gram of methamphetamine valued at $110 and 1 firearm. Goerke, Thompson, and Nicely were charged with possession of methamphetamine. Thompson was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Cunningham and Trammell were arrested for probation violations.

Christopher Shane Goodsir was arrested at 170 Sycamore Drive in Cleveland. Law enforcement found 1 gram of meth, 3 codeine pills valued at $125 and recovered a stolen trailer from Hall County valued at $999, ARDEO says. Goodsir was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of schedule III drugs, and theft by receiving.

Johnny Ray Bridgers was arrested at 726 Partin Road in Cleveland.  Authorities say they found 1 gram of methamphetamine valued at $110. Bridgers was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Jeffrey Anthony Chastain and Amanda Christine Anderson were arrested at 1149 Black Road in Cleveland.  Deputies found 1 gram of meth, 3 amphetamine pills, and 2 grams of marijuana valued at $200, according to ARDEO.  Chastain and Anderson were charged with possession methamphetamine, possession of a schedule II drug and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

All nine suspects were booked into the White County jail.
