Boil water advisory lifted for south Clarkesville

The boil water advisory that’s been in effect for the south end of Clarkesville has been lifted. The advisory affected city water customers along Hwy. 197 South from Railroad Avenue South including Ellison Street, Rosewood and Roper Drive.

It was issued Tuesday night as a precaution after a 6″ water main was exposed during repairs. The line sprung a leak after contractors laying fiber optic for Windstream hit it while boring under the road at Hwy. 197 South and Railroad Avenue.

The State EPD gave the go ahead to lift the advisory Thursday afternoon after water samples tested negative for contamination.
