Helen did it. Clarkesville did it. Now Demorest is following suit, sticking to plans for its community Christmas celebration in spite of the weather.
The snowstorm that swept through North Georgia Friday and Saturday left many outdoor activities in question. It also left a beautiful landscape of snow-covered lawns, creating the perfect backdrop for winter fun and festivities.
Helen’s Christmas Parade and Clarkesville’s parade/celebration both went smoothly Saturday. Now, Demorest is going ahead with its plans for Christmas in the Park.
Christmas in the Park at Demorest Springs Park is scheduled to take place tonight, Sunday, Dec. 10, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Demorest Springs Park downtown.
We are still on for tonight. Wear your boots and mittens and come and enjoy!
There will be snow, singing, a tree lighting, giveaways, roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate!
The event is being hosted by the City of Demorest and Concord Baptist Church. Demorest Mayor Rick Austin invites the community to come out and join them.
“We are still on for tonight,” Austin says. “Wear your boots and mittens and come and enjoy!”
Demorest Springs Park is located at 559 Georgia Street, Demorest, GA 30535.
