Annie Mae “Nana Mae” Thomas, age 85 of Demorest, passed away November 24, 2017.
Born in Cleveland, Georgia on Blue Creek, December 1, 1931, she was a daughter of the late James Monroe and Katie Elmira Adams Thomas. Ms. Thomas was a caretaker and a collector of friends who enjoyed cooking, traveling, and quilting. She was a member of Return Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hughes, Henry, Andrew, and Ed Thomas; sisters, Mary Lou Nicholson, Edith Thomas, and Doris Adams; son-in-law, Michael Earnest Huff.
Ms. Thomas is survived by her sister, Irene Hall of Demorest; sister-in-law, Louise Palmer Thomas of Demorest; daughter, Theresa Lynn Huff; granddaughter and spouse, Heather Huff Stewart and William Stewart; great grandchildren, Charity Elizabeth Cloud and Grace Gabriella Stewart; nephews, J.W., Thane (Brenda), Bruce(Ann), Jerry(Gail), Dale, and Glen(Charlene); nieces, Joyce (Alan) Nix, Gwen (Alan) McDonald, Brenda(Randy) Smith, Beth (Danny)Pitts, Lesa (Ted) Reeves, and Marvelann Soldani; many great nieces and nephews; dear friends, Lucilla Gibson, Elaine, Ryan, Dawn and Dusty, and all of the Habersham Home West ladies who took care of her.
Funeral services are 2 pm Monday, November 27, 2017, in the McGahee Griffin and Stewart Chapel with Rev. Paul Flynn and Rev. Donald Grizzle officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Sunday and from 12 until the service hour Monday at the funeral home.
