HCMC names second interim CEO

Lynn Boggs (Habersham County Medical Center)

The Habersham County Medical Center Hospital Authority has named Lynn Ingram Boggs as the new interim chief executive officer.

The announcement came on October 18, in a press release from the Hospital Authority.

Boggs is replacing previous interim CEO Barbara Ducan, the hospital’s chief financial officer, who acted as CEO while the authority “identified an interim leader,” as stated in the release.

The search for an acting CEO comes after Jerry Wise, CEO from April 2013 – October 2017, was let go due to unspecified reasons.

Boggs comes to HCMC with an impressive resume, including Senior Vice President at Mission Health System in Asheville, NC, President and CEO at McDowell Hospital in Marion, NC, and Executive Vice President and Operating Officer for SSM Healthcare’s South Operating Group in St. Louis, MO.

Additionally, during Boggs’ tenure at Porter Medical Center, she was able to improve the expense of the run-rate by $1.5 million and completed its merger with the University of Vermont Medical Center in March 2017.

Authority Chairman Kim Crawford praised Boggs for her experience and accomplishments stating, “In Lynn’s most recent role as president and CEO for Porter Medical Center, a 25-bed critical-access hospital, she led the board through short-term strategic planning, merger exploration, and financial improvement work.” Crawford added, “The authority is confident she’s the right leader for Habersham Medical Center as we continue to explore partnership and affiliation options”.

Vice Chairman Jack Fulbright spoke positively about the decision to bring in Boggs as well. “We are excited to work with Lynn, hospital leadership, and a future partner to ensure access to tertiary care services.” Fulbright added, “Boggs expertise will be a great asset in helping the authority realize its top priority, to maintain and enhance the long-term financial viability of the hospital, while recruiting and retaining providers and experienced nursing staff, stemming the outmigration of patients, and preserving local employment opportunities.”

Boggs’ addition comes in the midst of HCMC’s merger negotiations with Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
