Utility upgrades to slow traffic on I-85 in Gwinnett County this weekend

Work on an electric infrastructure upgrade will temporarily impact traffic on major thoroughfare

Contractors for Georgia Transmission Corporation will pull utility lines across all lanes on I-85 northbound and southbound lanes between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Indian Trail in Gwinnett County this weekend. The work will require authorities to pace traffic on I-85 for brief periods, causing motorists to drive at a significantly reduced speed.

Work is scheduled, weather permitting, Saturday and Sunday, October 14-15, from around 7:30-11 a.m each day.

All southbound and northbound lanes of I-85 between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Indian Trail will be impacted. Access ramps from these exits will be closed during the traffic pacing.

Local law enforcement will help pace traffic. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes.
