David Stinespring, age 71, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017.
Mr. Stinespring was born on July 18, 1946, in Toccoa, Georgia, to the late Curtis P. and Carolyn Burrell Stinespring. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Fred Stinespring. Mr. Stinespring was a United States Army Navy Veteran having served during Vietnam. He was retired from Hormel Foods and formerly employed with Georgia Power. David was a life member of Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720 and a member of the Cooties. He was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Joy Carver Stinespring of Cornelia; daughter, Wilma C. Stinespring of Baldwin; stepson and spouse, Clint and Kristi Cook of Duluth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Sam Pittard of Woodstock and Mary and Bill Cox of Burns, TN; sister-in-law, Margaret Stinespring of Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Curtis Stinespring II and Carolyn of Turnerville; and grandchildren, Elaina Grace Cook and Rylan Alexander Cook.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Dr. Roy G. Rogers officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard, Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, Habersham County American Legion Post #7720, and Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, September 29, 2017, at the funeral home.
