The Habersham County Road Department reports it’s receiving reports of downed trees across the county. An official Nixle alert from the county states: “We are receiving several reports of trees down all across Habersham, please do not be on the roads unless you absolutely have to.”
High winds are sweeping across Habersham and Georgia as Tropical Storm Irma makes her way north. There are reports of damage across the state.
The Georgia Department of Transportation suspended clean-up operations in east central Georgia Monday afternoon due to increased threats from the storm.

During a press conference earlier today, Gov. Nathan Deal urged Georgians to stay sheltered and off the roads.
