Lady Raiders in search of first region win

The Lady Raiders are currently 4-6 overall and 0-3 within Region 8-AAAAAA.

A season-opening 12-6 win over Hart County had Habersham Central looking good right out of the gate. The girls then dropped the next three by a combined score of 15-1, including getting shut out twice.

The Lady Raiders then rebounded with an impressive pair of wins over Chestatee, a dominant program over the last few seasons. Habersham won 7-2 and 9-0 over the Lady War Eagles to improve their record to an even 3-3 heading into region play.

The Lady Raiders have been on the wrong side of those games, including close losses to Winder-Barrow (5-2 score) and Dacula (5-3 score). A much-needed 8-6 non-region win over neighboring White County got the girls back on track. However, a tough Apalachee team beat the Lady Raiders 13-5. No score has been reported for the last scheduled game against Lanier on August 31.

According to MaxPreps, in six recorded games of statistics, Lady Raiders’ junior standout Paige Cook is batting .500 with a homerun and 7 RBI. Fellow junior Adelaide Askew is batting .529 with a team-high 8 RBI. Cook, Askew and Ansleigh Holland, Jennifer Dover, Kilee Thomas and Kylie Gray are among those leading the girls this season.
