“Habersham Cares” hurricane relief effort underway

Donations are now being collected at the Torch Worship Center in Demorest to help victims of Hurricane Harvey. The church launched its “Habersham Cares” emergency outreach effort on Sunday. They’ll be accepting donations through this coming Sunday, Sept. 10th.


Items to be collected include toiletries, cleaning supplies, cases of water, baby items, medical supplies, paper products, trash bags, inflatable mattresses/pillows, and tarps.

A donation drop off site is set up at The Torch Worship Center located at 800 Cannon Bridge Road, Demorest, Georgia 30535. Donations are accepted daily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The shipment will leave and head to Houston for delivery on Monday, September 11th. Supplies will be distributed among those affected by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston, Texas, area.

Relief Items to be collected:

  • Toiletries:  Toothbrushes/toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, germ-x
  • Cleaning Supplies:  bleach, cleaners, wipes, cleaning tools, gloves
  • Cases of Water
  • Baby Items: Diapers, Baby Wipes, Baby Formula
  • First Aid Kits / Medical Supplies
  • Paper Products
  • Trash Bags
  • Inflatable Mattresses / Pillows
  • Tarps
