Habersham Chamber “Expo”ses community to area businesses

2nd annual Business EXPO called "huge success"

In an effort to promote economic growth in Northeast Georgia, the Habersham Chamber of Commerce held its 2nd annual Business Expo. The August 16 Expo, held at the Cornelia Community House, hosted a wide variety of local businesses promoting their brands to consumers and other businesses.

Those in attendance included Piedmont College, Habersham County Medical Center, Lowes, The Orchard, Abby J’s, Chastain Insurance, and many local small business owners.

The Chamber asked exhibitors to promote their business with a representative door prize and information about their company. Door prizes were handed out every 30 minutes and ranged from t-shirts to dinners. With the allure of door prizes and fellowship, the event drew in a large crowd.

One of the larger vendors to attend was the Chattahoochee Mountain Fair. Fair president Brenda Kinsey used the Expo to promote the upcoming annual event. This year’s fair runs September 8-16. Along with the traditional rides and activities, Brenda announced a special Dukes of Hazzard exhibition (click here to read more about it).

She was among the many vendors who promoted upcoming events.

Organizers of the annual Relay for Life fundraiser also participated in the expo. Each year the local chapter hosts a walk to end cancer, with proceeds going directly to those battling the disease.  Even though it’s a well-known organization, the group hopes by attending the expo, they can gain new members and sponsors to join their cause.

Sweet Acre Farms Winery was among the local businesses present. Owned by Matthew and Lindsey Vrahiotes, Sweet Acre is the only existing winery in Hall County since 1910. Each of the Vrahiotes wines is made solely from fruit grown in Georgia. The Vrahiotes attended the expo in hopes of promoting their homegrown business and expanding their contacts among the other vendors.
