Claudio Castro Ramos is charged with nine counts of child sex abuse
Cornelia Police have arrested and charged a 35-year-old man with nine counts of child sex abuse. Police Chief Chad Smith says the Cornelia Police Department was informed by the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services of a report of possible child abuse that occurred in the city of Cornelia.
The initial report was filed by the family of the child victim in Escondido, California who has been assisting with the investigation, according to Smith. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Claudio Castro Ramos. He was picked up by CPD on August 10.
Ramos is being held in the Habersham County jail. He’s charged with multiple counts including child molestation, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy and rape.
Chief Smith says all of the alleged crimes were committed in Cornelia over a three year period.
The case remains under investigation.
