A Boil Water Advisory issued Saturday by the City of Demorest Water Department has been lifted. The advisory was issued after a water main break on Hazel Creek Road in Mt. Airy.
The break affected service to approximately 2,000 customers, according to Demorest Mayor Rick Austin. The advisory was issued as a precaution to guard against possible contamination from the exposed line. It was lifted Tuesday afternoon upon approval of test results by the Georgia EPD.
Demorest water customers who reside on HWY 197 Hazel Creek Road to HWY 365, Cody Road, Kinney Mill Road, Blacksnake Road, North Mize Road, Canterbury Trail, Dicks Hill Parkway, Rock Road, and Antioch Church Road can resume normal water use at this time.
