Piedmont College holds July commencement

Hannah Clark and Curtis Singleton, both of Warner Robins, capture the moment while waiting for Piedmont College July Commencement ceremonies to begin on Saturday. Clark earned a Master of Arts degree in middle grades education, while Singleton collected his MA degree in curriculum and instruction.

The two were among the 172 new undergraduate and graduate students who gathered at the Johnny Mize Athletic Center July 22 in Demorest, Georgia. President James F. Mellichamp and Board of Trustees Chairman Thomas A. “Gus” Arrendale III presented diplomas to students earning Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Teaching, Education Specialist, and Doctor of Education degrees.

Commencement speaker Larry A. Peevy, President and Head of School at Tallulah Falls School, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Education degree. Peevy, who is currently Chairman of the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce, was also recently named Habersham Countian of the Year for 2017.
