Banks County and the Kahmal Wiley Foundation are holding an August 5 5K.
The fundraiser helps with continued support for Leopards basketball star Kahmal Wiley and his family with their ongoing medical expenses. Wiley lost both legs stemming from of an April 15 car accident, mere days after his senior season ended. He eclipsed 1,000 career points in his final game, a feat that is very impressive in that he only needed three years to accomplish the task.
The 5K is on Saturday, August 5 at Banks County High School. The fundraiser includes a 5K, a 10 a.m. car show and a basketball camp for kids, as well as a bar-b-que. All proceeds go to Wiley and his family.
BBQ tickets are $8/ticket, and there are several items that will be raffled off, as well as gift baskets and concert tickets (Katy Perry/Janet Jackson). Items that will be available for raffle also include a Coach Kirby Smart UGA helmet, Yeti coolers, lottery baskets, local pottery and much more!
Kids of all ages will be able to take part, as there will be dunking booths and a bouncy house and giant slide. There’s something for everyone on Saturday, August 5 to come out and have a great time and support a wonderful young man and his family.
Wiley was recently named Now Habersham Athlete of the Year for the 2016-17 school year.
