Habersham Central High School Assistant Principal Jonathan Stribling has been named the school’s new principal. The Habersham County Board of Education approved Stribling’s promotion today during a called meeting. He succeeds outgoing principal Wes McGee who resigned to take a job as principal of Hall County’s new high school.
Stribling is a graduate of Habersham Central High. He taught agriculture in Stephens and White Counties before returning home to work at his alma mater as assistant principal. He’s been an assistant principal at HCHS for the past seven years.
Superintendent of Schools Matthew Cooper says they worked hard to find a principal the entire board could support. He says it’s a tough job and the incoming principal will need the full support of the board and superintendent. “In many ways, it is a tougher job today than it was even five years ago,” Cooper says.
The Superintendent says communication is one of Stribling’s strongest skills and will serve him well as principal of Habersham Central. “As the new Principal he will be the face and the voice of the school. He has demonstrated a commitment to our mission of “Success for All Students” and I expect that he will place the success of our students above all else. Mr. Stribling has communicated that he is committed to holding both students and teachers accountable in accomplishing the mission.”
Stribling says, “I appreciate the recommendation of the superintendent and I certainly do appreciate the approval of the school board. I know I have their support and I look forward to serving the Habersham Central community.”
