Terry Gladden is Clarkesville’s new Post 3 city councilman.
Gladden claimed 58% of the vote to defeat challenger Jerry Hamilton in a special election to fill the unexpired term of former councilman Casey Ramsey.
Tuesday’s election was marked by extremely low voter turnout. Just 14% of Clarkesville’s 949 active registered voters cast ballots. Of the 134 votes cast, Gladden received 77 and Hamilton received 56 votes.
Ramsey resigned back in February after relocating to Dalton, GA. Gladden will serve out the remainder of Ramsey’s term which ends on December 31, 2019.
