Piedmont’s Danielle Percival promoted to Director of Athletic Communications

Following Timmy McCormack’s announcement as Head Women’s Soccer Coach earlier this spring at Piedmont College, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jim Peeples has named Danielle Percival Director of Athletic Communications.

Percival takes over the role after serving as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications since August 2014.

“We are very excited to announce the promotion of Danielle Percival as our Director of Athletic Communications,” Peeples said. “Danielle has done a tremendous job of advancing every area within the Athletic Communication department during her time at Piedmont. Her professionalism is unmatched and she embodies the qualities of constant improvement and excellence that we seek for all the areas of our athletic department. The future of the Athletic Communication Department is in good hands and I am excited to continue working with Danielle in her new role.”

In her capacity with the Office of Athletic Communications at Piedmont, Percival has served as the SID contact for men’s soccer, volleyball, cross country, men’s basketball, track and field, baseball and softball. Additionally, Percival directs the Mane Event Broadcasting Network which provides live video feeds for nearly all home events as well as in-depth features on coaches, student-athletes, and alumni with the Green and Gold.

“I’m honored to be selected as the next leader in the Department of Athletic Communications at Piedmont College,” Percival said of the new position. “I appreciate all that Timmy McCormack taught me during his time as Director and look forward to continuing the success he has brought to this department during his tenure.”

Percival also directs Piedmont’s social media initiatives and serves as the contact for the Athletic Department’s official Twitter feed, Instagram account, Facebook page, and YouTube channel. Since coming on board, Piedmont’s social media following has grown substantially with each tool extending the reach of the Green and Gold on a regional and national level.

Since coming to Piedmont, Percival has earned additional opportunities to further her experience as ESPN brought the PC staff member on board to serve as a sideline reporter beginning in 2014. Percival first worked with the Worldwide Leader in Sports working the sidelines of several Division I football games as a reporter before serving in the same capacity at the Sun Belt Conference Basketball Championship Tournament with March Madness descending on the nation in 2015.

Named to the Troy University Chancellor’s List for carrying a perfect GPA, Percival attained her Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Sports Information from the Alabama-based institution graduating in May of 2014.
