Carl S. Flury, age 89 of Demorest, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017.
Born in Greenwood, South Carolina on July 5, 1927, he was a son of the late Albert L. Flury and Cora Robertson Flury. Carl retired as Vice President with Independent Insurance Company in Jacksonville, Florida at 62. As a young man, he served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II having been stationed in Guam and Port Lyautey, Africa, where he and his wife lived for a brief time.
Carl loved to deep sea fish and golf was his passion. He landed a hole in one on February 2, 2009 on #7 at The Orchard Golf and Country Club, where he worked for many years after retirement. He was generous of his time and volunteered for Junior Achievement, numerous Chambers of Commerce, United Way, and Habitat for Humanity. He loved his friends and family. His loving spirit will be missed by many but he has gone on to meet our Lord.
Surviving are loving wife of 65 years, Mildred Lanier Flury of Demorest; daughter, Jana Flury of Clarkesville; and Lucy his loving dog.
Memorial services for Mr. Flury will be held at Clarkesville First United Methodist Church, Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 11:00 am. All are welcomed to attend a memorial lunch (as guests of the family) in celebration of his life, immediately following the service at Blue Creek Farmhouse Market, 4412 Hollywood Hwy, Clarkesville, GA 30523, 706-754-0775.
