Funeral services are scheduled Sunday for a local woman killed Monday in a two-vehicle wreck on GA 365.
85-year-old Drucilla Collier died after her Toyota Prius was struck by a pickup truck as she attempted to cross the highway, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
GSP says Collier was traveling east on Jess Kinney Road when she crossed into the northbound lanes of GA 365 and ran into the path of a Ford pickup driven by 74-year-old Carvel Wassell of Demorest. Collier’s car struck the truck in the left front side. After impact the truck traveled off the east shoulder of the highway, struck a road sign and ran down an embankment.
Wassell was trapped inside his truck and had to be extricated. He was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) in Gainesville with non-incapacitating, upper extremity injuries. A passenger in the truck, 70-year-old Judith Wassell, also was taken to NGMC with upper extremity injuries.
Collier’s funeral service is scheduled Sunday at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Mt. Airy.
