Trespass complaint leads to drug arrest in Clarkesville

Authorities say they seized hundreds of dollars worth of illegal prescription drugs, methamphetamine, and marijuana from a home in Clarkesville on May 8, 2017.

A Clarkesville man faces multiple charges after getting busted for drugs while being interviewed on a criminal trespass case. 

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office responded to the trespass complaint Monday at 131 Muleman Road. As a deputy was interviewing the complainant’s son, Wayne Newton Goss, the deputy located a quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana, Lortab and Xanax.

“A search warrant was obtained by Habersham authorities and a search of Goss’ room yielded more methamphetamine, marijuana, digital scales and packaging material,” says Mitchell Posey with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.

ARDEO puts the street value of the drugs at $800.

The 39-year old Goss is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce, possession of Lortab schedule II narcotic, and possession of Xanax schedule IV narcotic.

He was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.


The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office is a multi-agency unit that consists of the following Sheriff’s Offices: White County, Lumpkin County, Towns County, Banks County, Habersham County, Stephens County, Rabun County and Franklin County, along with the Cleveland Police Department, Lavonia Police Department, the Georgia National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, the Department of Public Safety,, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
