Four members of the same family are among six people charged after a drug bust in Clayton.
Authorities say they seized several thousand dollars worth of drugs and more than a dozen firearms while executing a search warrant Tuesday at the home of Donald Elliott.
The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) arrested all six suspects at the residence at 328 Lige Mill Road during the raid. The search followed a three month investigation.
Officers seized approximately 27 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a quantity of alprazolam and oxycodone along with butane hash oil and a small amount of marijuana, according to ARDEO Special Agent in Charge Mitchell Posey. The estimated street value of the drugs is $4,000.
Rabun County authorities also seized 17 firearms. Officials say the serial number on one of the guns had been removed.
The 64-year old Elliott and his 61-year old wife, Susan, are both charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug related objects, possession of a schedule IV narcotic (Alprazolam).
The couple’s 37-year old son Frank Elliott was also arrested along with his sister and her boyfriend. He faces numerous charges including possession of meth with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. 32-year old Sylva Elliott and 35-year old Mitchell Gerrells are both charged with possession of drug related objects.
Officials say the sixth suspect, 31-year old Adam Giles of Clayton, was one of the main figures in the operation along with Donald Elliott. He, too, faces multiple drug charges.
All six were transported to the Rabun County Detention Center.
Their arrests mark the latest in a recent string of drug arrests made by ARDEO and its partner agencies.
