The diamond Raiders are 10-5 as they head into Monday’s region opener against Apalachee.
It’s been a great season to this point for Habersham Central, as the offense has been phenomenal in scoring 121 runs in 15 games (8.1/game) while allowing just 63 total runs.
The boys had a five-game win streak going from February 27 until March 10, taking two straight against Chestatee before falling in two games to Franklin County. The Raiders polished off non-region play with an 11-1 win over Central Gwinnett, marking the fifth game this season in which the offense plated more than 10 runs.
The remaining slate is comprised of three-game sets against all five region foes, beginning with Apalachee. Gainesville, Winder-Barrow, Lanier and Dacula follow in order.
The Raiders’ Jarred Jones tallied a homerun for Hab Central last week, and according to MaxPreps (with only 8 of the 15 games accounted for with statistics), senior Seth Blackburn (.462 avg, 6 RBI), fellow senior Brandon Mitchell (.333 avg, 5 RBI) and Jones (.318 avg, HR, 11 RBI) all are having great seasons. Others, such as junior Hunter Ingle, Brice Austin and Cole Wilbanks are all producing well for the Raiders also.
