Power restored to hundreds in Clarkesville

Georgia Power officials say an equipment failure caused an outage this morning that left hundreds of Clarkesville homeowners and church goers in the dark.

The lights went out around 8:30 a.m. The outage affected more than 700 customers in the area of West Water and Swain Streets extending up GA 197 North past North Georgia Technical College.

Local GA Power manager Brent Edwards says the problem was caused by “an equipment failure on our distribution circuit.”

Service was restored within an hour.
